1874 - 1883

The 1874 issue divides into 4 sub-classifications which indicate the configuration of the imprinted district numbers and date. Because of prior tradition, these sub-classifications might have been called "periods" as they were during the eagle issue, but they were not and by popularity are simple called "Numbers Wide Apart", "Numbers Close Together at Bottom", "Numbers Close Together at Top" and "Without Numbers".
