1874 - 1877
NUMERALS WIDE APART
Initially- the Government Printer began placing the district number and date approximately 9mm apart, the district number being a one or two digit number imprinted on the left and the year a two digit year printed 9mm to the right of the district number.

The above piece illustrates the imprints, the district number being a "6" and the year (1877) a "77". The example is a 10 centavo stamp that was overprinted and used in CHALCO, the "CHALCO" district name visible to the side of Hidalgo's head right behind his ear.
